Therapy isn't about telling you what to do
There isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
You are the expert in your own life. My role is to listen, ask questions and help you explore what is happening for you, so that you can develop a better understanding of yourself and what you need.
Sometimes you may know exactly what you want to talk about.
Sometimes you may arrive and say, "I don't even know where to start."
Both are completely okay.
A space without judgement
Therapy gives you the opportunity to talk about things you may not feel able to talk about elsewhere.
You can bring the thoughts you're embarrassed about, the feelings you don't understand, the experiences that still hurt, or the things you've been carrying quietly for a long time.
You don't have to make things sound better than they are.
And you don't have to apologise for taking up space.
We'll work together rather than me telling you what you should do.
Depending on what you need, this might involve exploring your current situation, understanding patterns that have developed over time, looking at relationships and boundaries, or making sense of experiences that continue to affect you.
I draw on different therapeutic approaches and adapt my work to you rather than expecting you to fit into a particular method.
I am also trained in BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT), which I may use where I feel it could be helpful and where it fits with what you want from therapy.
Some people come to therapy because they are struggling with something specific. Others have a more general feeling that they are not themselves or that they want something to change.
You don't have to know exactly what you need before we begin.
We'll start with where you are and take things at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Nailsworth and online sessions across the UK.
If you're unsure whether therapy with me might be right for you, you can book a free 15-minute consultation.
It's an opportunity for us to talk briefly about what you're looking for and for you to ask any questions you may have.
There is no pressure to decide anything during that conversation.
