Hello, I'm Gabi

If you've found your way here, you may already be wondering whether therapy could help you.You may also be wondering what I'm actually like, and whether I'm someone you could feel comfortable talking to.I think that's an important question.Finding the right therapist is personal. You need to feel that you can be yourself, talk openly and bring the things you may find difficult to say elsewhere.

What matters to me

I've always been fascinated by people — what makes us who we are, how our experiences shape us, and why we sometimes respond to situations in ways we don't fully understand. That curiosity is one of the things that led me to become a therapist.Over the years, I've also noticed how many people apologise when they first come to therapy.
"I'm sorry, I'm talking too much.""I'm sorry, this probably sounds silly.""I'm sorry... I don't even know where to start."
It has made me think about how many of us have learnt to make ourselves smaller. To worry about taking up too much space, disappointing others or being a burden. You don't have to do that with me.You don't need to have everything worked out, find the right words or know exactly where to begin.

How I work

I believe therapy should be a space where you feel listened to, respected and able to be yourself.I won't tell you how you should live your life or assume that I know what's best for you.Instead, I'll listen carefully and work with you to understand what's happening, exploring your thoughts, feelings, experiences and the patterns that may have developed along the way.Sometimes we'll focus on what is happening in your life now. At other times, it may be helpful to understand experiences from your past and how they may still be affecting you today. My approach is warm, compassionate and down-to-earth, and we'll work at a pace that feels right for you.

My experience

I'm a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, as well as a BWRT practitioner.I have experience working with adults and young people in a range of settings, as well as in private practice. My work has included supporting people with anxiety, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, loss, grief & bereavement to name but a few.
Alongside my private practice I also provide counselling support through Minchinhampton Surgery and Listening Post Stroud.
I'm a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and work within its Ethical Framework. I continue to develop my knowledge and skills through ongoing training and professional development. You can find more detail about my professional background and qualifications on my My Background page.

Finding the right therapist matters

You don't need to know before contacting me whether I'm definitely the right therapist for you.We can have an initial conversation, talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you're hoping for, and see how it feels to talk together. You can ask questions. You can take your time.
You simply need to start where you are.
